I wanted to share some photos and highlights from my trip with the students. I decided to put them on the blog so that I can easily show them tomorrow. I had a wonderful time and cannot wait to return!! Check out the pictures below and forget about the freezing weather outside!;)
We stayed at my boyfriend's uncle's vacation home in Palm Desert. It was absolutely gorgeous! Here are some photos of our backyard, where we spent most of our time playing in the pool.
Every morning the neighbour's parrots would whistle and say "mom" over and over again. We got so used to hearing this and thought it was quite funny. We also enjoyed watching the hummingbirds drink nectar from the flowers. It was such a relaxing environment.

One of the most exhilarating experiences from the trip was hiking in the canyons. I was terrified about 90% of the time but am so glad that I did it!
I also included some photos of a beautiful oasis with huge palm trees. On this hike I met a little friend. He was tricky to spot because of his ability to camouflage in the desert. I was literally inches away from him and he was so kind to pose for the camera. I took his picture especially for the students since we were just learning about camouflage!
The other pictures are from the aerial tram we took up the mountain. We were over 8500 feet above sea level! I wish I could say I was brave, but that wouldn't be very honest of me:). The view was worth all of the fear. The pictures just can't do it justice.
I collected some very interesting rocks that I brought back with me so that I can show the class. The students may recognize my boyfriend's sister, Kara, who volunteers in our classroom. She is in her second year of Education and hopes to teach in a rural school division. Her boyfriend did lots of free climbing and caused us a lot of worry! Try to spot him in the fourth photo, he was very high! I also included some photos of a beautiful oasis with huge palm trees. On this hike I met a little friend. As the students know, I LOVE Disney World but have never been to Disneyland. So, we spent one day at Disneyland and were able to ride a few of the rides and check out some of the great shops. My favourite ride was California Screamin', which is only at Disneyland. We also went on Space Mountain (a previous favourite), the Matterhorn, and Indiana Jones. Unfortunately, we were very short on time so I did not get any pictures with the Disney characters but did see Doug, Minnie Mouse, Ariel, and Mickey Mouse.
The next day we went to a wax museum in Los Angeles. Of course, I was excited to see a dog, Toto, from the Wizard of Oz. I was even more thrilled when I met a gigantic, 190 pound dog outside the Chinese Theatre. He was very friendly and even let me take his picture:).
The last picture is my boyfriend and I at NBA game at the Staples Center in L.A. The L.A. Lakers played Danny's favourite team, the Houston Rockets, who won the game!! Seeing the players up close and other celebrities was an exciting experience!

I promised the students that I would share a video of the roller coaster, California Screamin' since I enjoyed it so much. Click the link below to check out a front row point of view video.
