Hello everyone!
I apologize for not updating the blog in such a long time!! We have been so busy that I just haven't had the chance to sit down and get it done! I have a few things to share and have also added some photos under the "Students" section.
1. Next Year?! - So many people have been asking if I will be able to stay at MacNeill next year. Up until Friday, I had no idea. I was crossing all of my fingers and toes because it would have broken my heart to leave the school after such an amazing year with everyone. I was beyond excited to find out that I get to STAY at MacNeill and continue teaching Grade 1. A big thank you to all of you for your constant support over the year. I could not have done it without you. I am very grateful to have spent my first year learning with such a special group of people.
2. Guided Reading - I can't believe we only have two Guided Reading days left this year!! Our last day will be next Thursday, May 29th. I will continue to send notes home with students who are missing Guided Reading books. I am happy to share that most books have been found, which is so important when preparing for next year. Thank you so much to all of the volunteers who have helped with Guided Reading!! We could not run such a successful program without your help. I think we can all agree that each and every child has experienced great improvement in reading! I am so proud of everyone!!
3. Dog Sponsorship - Thank you to everyone who helped raise money to sponsor a shelter pet from the Humane Society. The students and I viewed all dogs on the Humane Society's website and read their information. We discussed who would need our help the most, depending on the age and personality of the dog. Considering all of the information, we chose a sweet dog named Joey. You can view his information on the Humane Society's website or view the screen shot below (I could not find a way to resize the photo). Please feel free to share with anyone who's looking for a new companion:). (UPDATE: Joey was adopted today - May 21st!!)
Thanks again for everything! A June newsletter will be sent home next week for all of the important June news and dates. I can't believe we're about to enter the last month of school!! Let's make the best of it!:)
